The Establishment of a Maronite Mission in San
Francisco Bay Area
The Ecclesial Presence of the Maronite Church in the Bay
area began with the arrival of father Paul Mouawad, a young energetic priest, in
1977. The dream of many people of having a priest of their own became a
reality. As a result, the Bay area was never the same!!!
Soon after his arrival, Fr. Paul gathered the faithful Christians for Sunday
Worship at the Auditorium of Serra High School. People responded
positively to God's call through worship, prayers and fellowship.
The Establishment of a Maronite Church in San
Francisco Bay Area
After years of hospitality at Serra High School, the Maronites had finally a
place of their own to call home. In 1981, they were able to purchase the
church building from St. Dunstan's Parish.

Many dedicated parishioners worked very hard to make the building suitable for
Christian worship.
The tireless efforts of our founding members were crowned when Archbishop
Francis Zayek dedicated the newly purchased building as
Our Lady of
Lebanon Church.
The dwelling place of God is a place where people come to worship freely in
truth and spirit.
