Honoring the Firefighters and Police Officers in Millbrae
Sunday,
Sept 21, 2008: Being the month of September, remembrance of Sept 11, Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite
Church
in Millbrae, Ca extended a luncheon invitation to
the firefighters and police
officers of the city to thank them for their continuous service to the
community. We were honored by their presence. Fr. John Nahal welcomed
every one, ran a round of introduction,
explained who we are, and thanked each of the attendees and wished them
continuous success in their mission in maintaining public
safety and enforcing
order. He also thanked Marie Salama and her family for sponsoring this event.
Marie is an active member of both the Pastoral Council and the Ladies
Guild and the one who first presented the idea to the parish council. This idea was welcomed
by all and Rose Summers, a parish council member, was chosen to
assist Marie with this event. Dr. Nicolas Makhoul, The
Pastoral Council president, also spoke and thanked Marie and the supporters
who made this event a memorable one
and stressed the
appreciation of Our Lady of Lebanon parishioners to the members of the firefighters
and police officers. Following the Luncheon, each of the attendees
were presented with a box of goodies, shown below, as a token of our appreciation.
